Prior to fencing and watch & ward the land was a free for all - for wood cutting, grazing by cattle/goats and trapping & hunting of animal by snares. Over a period of time, by constant patrolling, destroying traps, these habits of the locals were finally stopped. Now, with a balanced Fauna, lots of species of mammals, birds, reptiles & insects have returned. Sightings of Jackals, Porcupines, Rabbits, Squirrels, Snakes and Barking Deer are a regular feature. The health of the forest can be gauged by the fact, that, since the last 4 years, three pairs the Barking Deer have been living & breeding on our land.
A Tree Climbing Frog, an endemic species has proliferated in a large section of our Forest.
